Legia Warsaw fans clash with police outside Aston Villa’s ground

Legia Warsaw fans clashed with police outside Villa Park in Birmingham before a Europa Conference League fixture against Aston Villa on Thursday.

Flares, bottles and other objects were thrown at police as fans of the Polish side went on the rampage near Aston Villa’s ground.

The violence reportedly began when hundreds of Legia fans were not given tickets to the game outside the ground, as had been expected.

Away fans were banned from entering Villa Park as a result of the clashes.

Aston Villa stewards also removed several people believed to be away fans from the ground.

Four cops were injured and 46 visiting fans arrested.
