Angry Zamalek fans riot after draw with Al Ahli Tripoli

Fans of Egypt’s Zamalek caused a riot at Alexandria’s Borg el-Arab Stadium on Sunday night as their team crashed out of the African Champions League.

Zamalek were knocked out of the tournament after a 2-2 draw with Libya’s Al Ahly Tripoli that left them third in Group B.

Home fans reacted by throwing flares, seats and various other objects onto the pitch after the final whistle.

There were also clashes between Zamalek fans and police outside the ground.

According to local media, 20 Zamalek fans were arrested for their participation in the riot.
