Trouble broke out between rival fans during an Italian Serie C match between Casertana and Foggia at the Alberto Pinto stadium in the southern city of Caserta on Monday.
Both sets of fans were seen throwing firecrackers and flares at each other inside the ground at half-time.
Casertana fans then invaded the running track surrounding the pitch and briefly clashed with several Foggia fans, who had also entered the track.
Riot police were called in to restore order.
At least three persons were injured, with one taken to hospital.
The second half kicked off after a 40-minute delay.
